Have you ever asked students to collaborate on a PowerPoint or multimedia project? Students often struggle trying to research and share images with each other. This application should ease that process and make it convenient to pull images from two or more group members together in one location for use in a finished product. A bonus feature of this site is the fact that each image saved to the account also saves the resource link, which makes it very simple to cite images used in a project.
You are probably familiar with websites that allow you to upload and save images to the web (think Flickr, tinypic, etc.) and these tools are great for storage of images. The tool I am sharing today seems unique from the standpoint that you can save favorite images found on the web to an account and add a title, description, and tags. To use rosa.ly all you need to do is register for an account. You must provide an email address when you register, but you do not need to verify your account. I would call this a “delicious”-type bookmark for images. Installing the bookmarklet was very simple and using the tool was intuitive and easy to use. See my screenshot below for a simple explanation of the tool. Please note: free accounts are limited to 100 MB of storage. Unlimited storage costs $19.00 a year.

http://www.doink.com was designed for collaboration. We are a Web 2.0 site that provides free drawing & animation tools, but what is truly unique is how we enable the re-use of art. The 650,000 pieces of art created & shared on our site can be re-used by other DoInkers as “props”. So if you need a special background, tree, bird, etc. you can search the DoInk prop base and pull in the prop you need. This enables users to animate even if they cannot draw and more importantly to speed up the process of creating animations or presentations. A true community of sharing.
This sounds great! I will explore and work with it…you may be reading about it in a future post! Thanks for sharing,
Jen
Thank you for reviewing rosa.ly.
