You know sometimes “a girl just needs to have fun.” And believe me…exploring and playing with these photo transforming sites has been just that! The Fun Photo Box, PhotoFunia, and DeeFunia sites I reviewed for this post make it easy to transform a simple digital photograph into a new fun-featured photo. Take digital photographs of your students and feature them in any number of scenes or better yet show students the sites and let them transform their own photographs into new fun-filled photos. Once students have created new images give them an opportunity to write a story that incorporates their transformed photos. These photographs will serve as wonderful digital writing prompts. The photographs can also be used as award photographs or as images for greeting cards. Share your ideas for these transformed images using the comment link at the bottom of this post.
The Fun Photo Box online photo generator site features over 75 effects and new effects are added weekly. The photo generators on the site are easy to use and do not require registration. Simply select an effect, upload a photograph (no larger than 4 Mb) or select a photo online, and voila your photo is transformed and a new photograph is generated. You can save your newly generated photo to your computer, post it to a website or hotlink it.
The PhotoFunia site is similar to the Fun Photo Box site, though it features photo options that are different than those found at the FunPhotoBox site. No registration is required. Simply select an effect, upload your photo, and your new photo is available in moments. Save your newly generated photo to your computer, save it as an avatar, publish it online, or send it as a postcard. Note: photographs are automatically deleted after two hours.
Last, but not least (for now), check out the DeeFunia site. This site features a huge selection of photo generators—over 330 when I checked. Again, no registration is required and the process of selecting an effect and uploading a photograph is similar to the other sites already reviewed. You can save your generated photograph to your computer, save it as an avatar, look at your generated image in preview mode, or print it to share with a friend.
I have posted a few of my sample photos below, but I strongly suggest that you check out these fascinating photo imaging sites and start generating photos of your own! After all, teachers and students need to have fun too!
