I have shared some great applications in previous posts that entailed enhancing of your photographs, but the application I am sharing today actually focuses on the presentation of your photographs. You can also use PictureTrail.com to host and share your photographs/images. Use PictureTrail.com to create fascinating and interesting photo albums (called Flicks) that can be used to display your photos on a classroom website or blog. Students could also create albums that are curriculum specific…these albums could serve as an alternative to PowerPoints as you strive to build digital literacy skills in your students.
I have used family photographs to show you a couple of sample albums. You must register to create an album (or albums), but registration is free, fast, and simple. Once you have established an account you can upload photographs from your computer or use photographs you previously uploaded to the following sites: MySpace, Photobucket, Friendster, or Hi5. There are numerous frames, transitions, skins, and accents that you can combine to create stunning and interesting presentations of your photographs. When you create an album you can assign a password, so that you can protect your albums from the eyes of the world. That means you could share a site password with parents and still feel fairly confident that you were not sharing student resources or pictures of their work with strangers. Please check your district policy prior to posting photographs.
