Creative Clicks

artistcomputerI recently come across a number of activities, videos, and resources that could be used to support or inspire student creativity.

First, the most twittered and blogged about, is the addition of a drawing and diagramming feature in Google Docs. To add drawings and diagrams to a Google document, spreadsheet, or presentation simply open a document an select Insert > Drawing. To learn more about this new easy to use feature visit Google Help (of course). This new Google enhancement was intuitive and easy to use, probably because it is so very similar to the drawing/insert shapes features found in Microsoft programs.

artzoneThe National Gallery of Art website has several interactive resources that will engage artists of all ages…17 in fact. Each activity I played with was engaging and in many cases addictive. I especially enjoyed the BRUSHter and Collage Machine Activities. It would be interesting to give students an opportunity to work on Interactive Whiteboards using some of these activities during recess… kind of like drawing on the chalkboard magnified tenfold.

I’m sure I will be sharing additional Creative Click resources in the future, but I have decided to end this post today with two creative videos that I found very inspiring. The first video can only be viewed at the Adobe Voices Youth Gallery. Click on the image below to link to a video created by students in Vivekavardhini High School, Bangalore, India. The video is titled Control Z (Undo). Just a little techno reminder… Ctrl + Z on your keyboard is the universal shortcut key combination to undo an action. Enjoy the video!
