Smile Power Day
I could not find the origin of this celebration, but wonder if it has anything to do with the school year drawing to a close
I have found 16 smile-related links and resources that will keep you smiling from today to the end of the month. Smile and say “cheese!”

- How to Smile – directions posted on wikiHow.com (this could make an interesting writing assignment…ask students to write step-by-step directions for smiling or making someone else smile…I’m smiling just thinking about the possibilities)
- Top 10 Reasons to Smile – an article written by Mark Stibich, Ph.D. (See if students can name the top 10 Reasons to smile prior to reading them the article)
- International Smile Power Foundation – visit this site to learn how and why “International Smile Power partners with people to improve and sustain dental health and build bridges of friendship around the world.” (students might even be motivated enough to run a charity event so they could donate to the foundation)
- Operation Smile – this international organization is changing lives one smile at a time as they support surgeries to correct cleft lips
- Watch the following video originally posted on YouTube featuring clips from Charlie Chaplin movies and Michael Jackson singing Smile
- SMILE – learn about the Science and Mathematics Initiative for Learning Enhancement program that “was designed to enhance the elementary and high school learning of Science and Mathematics through the use of the phenomenological approach available to schools.”
