As you get ready for the school year take a few minutes to look over some of the terrific specialty generators I found online. The following generators can be used for easy printing and reproduction. You will also want to share the worksheets you generate on your classroom website so students have access to graphing paper and specialty papers from home. You can also print any of these .pdf files on transparency paper to use for overheads or to use while graphing outdoors. The .pdf files you create with these generators can also be projected on your interactive white board for student manipulation and plotting.
Incompetech – this site features a number of free specialty/graphing paper options. The selections are diverse and customizable and will generate a .pdf file that you can print or save. I especially like the fact that you can change the dimensions of graphic images to address the needs of all your students, even those that are visually impaired. You may want to post the .pdf file you want your students to use online so parents and students can print graphing paper from home. Types of graphs you can print include…
- Square Graph Papers – Grid, Multi-weight Grid, Dots, Crosses, Light Verticals, Grid Lined, or Axonometric Perspective
- Triangle and Hexagonal – Equilateral Triangle, Octagonal, Hexagonal, Hex Dot, Semi-bisected Trapezoid, Iso-Dots. Tumbling Block, Diamond – Trapezoid, Equilateral Triangle Dots, Variable Triangle
- Circular and Polar – Circular-Hex Pattern, Circular-Grid Pattern, Polar Graph Paper
- Brick, Asymmetic, and Specialty – Asymmetric, Brick, Moorish, “174 Paper”, Engineer’s Paper, Accounting-Ledger, Log/Semi-Log, Polar, Storyboard, Music Notation, Fretboard Diagrams, Number Line, Celtic Knot, Perspective
I have created a mini-cheat sheet with suggestions below….
Print Free Graph Paper - this generator does not offer as much variety, but the images that are available are excellent. Graph types include: Cartesian graph paper, Engineering graph paper, Polar graph paper, Isometric graph paper, Logarithmic graph paper, Hexagonal graph paper, Probability graph paper, Smith chart graph paper
Graph Paper Generator – information from the site…”Those of us who teach various science, mathematics, or engineering courses periodically have need to include an area of graph paper in a lab protocol or a test as a place in which students are asked to create a graph. However, the thought of hunting down a sheet of pre-printed graph paper to cut to size and tape to a word-processing print-out may make inclusion of an area of graph paper seem like a daunting task. Now, by answering a few simple questions, below, you can quickly create “graph paper” as a graphic file which can be directly embedded into your word-processing document.”
Graphpaper.us is a very simple graphing generator that makes it simple to print graph paper in different colors. Options are limited, but the generator does the job if you are looking for basic graphing paper.
ClassBrain.com – “Use our custom graph paper generator to make the perfect graph paper for your project. You can adjust it to work perfectly with your particular printer. You can adjust the color from black to grey to blue. If you have run out of your usual graph paper, make some of your own. We bet you like it so much, you do most of your graph paper this way. Have fun with your assignment.”
Knitting Graph Paper Generator – If you knit, there is also a graph paper generator for you. If you require the graph paper fit to your gauge exactly, this page will make it!
PDF millimeter and graph paper generator – create your own graph paper with your name in the header and guess what? No ads or copyright information will be included on the graph paper.
