I hope you enjoy the great resources and videos I discovered and bookmarked this week. In no particular order, I have listed my favorite top 10 sites, blog posts, and videos of the week below. Feel free to share your favorite finds of the week using the comment link found at the bottom of this post.

  1. Phobia Guide.com – find out what you fear when you study this extensive list of phobias. If you don’t have a phobia before you look at the list you most surely will after you look through the list…perhaps you will find that you have a phobia against phobias!
  2. The Future of Computers – this video is awesome….just think….
  3. Kurt Vonnegut explains drama – Derek Sivers posted this interesting take on drama and why we look for and/or need drama in our lives…interesting use of visuals to explain a concept/theory.
  4. Visual Presentations: Healthcare – Dan Roam has developed a series of Napkin Art presentations that show his take on the Healthcare initiative. The first slideshow (shown below) suggests notecards Obama could use for his speech that took place on September 9th. The second slide presentation shows his take on the state of the American Health Care situation. The shows might be interesting to share with students to demonstrate the power of visuals and to give students ideas on how to take and prepare notes. The presentations could also be used to spark a conversation about health care in the United States. I hope you find the presentations as interesting as I did.
  5. Do-it-yourself: Stop junk mail, email and phone calls – suggested strategies to help diminish some of the small annoyances of life.
  6. A Stairway to Heaven for Librarians – thanks to Larry Ferlazzo for tweeting this link!
  7. Educator Appreciation Week at Borders – learn how educators can save 30% at Borders and Waldenbooks between September 29-October 7
  8. 100 Tips, Tools, and Resources for Teaching Students About Social Media – visit the Teaching Degree.org Blog to read through this informative post
  9. People to People International’s School and Classroom Program – sign up for this free service now! Registration is open until the end of October. “This is a free service that connects teachers and their students with classes in other countries for pen pal exchanges and projects that improve cultural understanding and encourage friendship.”
  10. Thinking Visually – a great SlideShare posted by David Armano
