I am looking forward to a busy and fun-filled weekend spending time at a NYSCATE conference. I hope you enjoy the great resources and videos I discovered and bookmarked this week. In no particular order, I have listed my favorite top 10 sites, blog posts, and videos of the week below. - A friend sent me a link to this awesome motivating video based on a real sports event…a great resource to share with your sports teams….The Home Run
- World’s Greatest Training and Development Search Engine – a big claim for a small search engine based on Google Custom Search, but I have to admit I have found some very relevant and useful material when I use this search tool.
- BooksShouldBeFree.com – Free audio books that feature a number of classics you can download and save to your MP3 player. Have a listen…a free one.
- True Success – “With profound simplicity, Coach John Wooden redefines success and urges us all to pursue the best in ourselves. In this inspiring talk he shares the advice he gave his players at UCLA, quotes poetry and remembers his father’s wisdom.”
- Kids’ Vid – “an instructional web site that gives teachers and students the tools necessary to implement video production in the classroom. Video production can be intimidating to the novice. Not to worry. It is nothing more than a method for recording research and expressing creative ideas. Video production, if properly implemented, is more than a new toy for students. It provides the tools and the means for students to create and display serious work in a new, exciting and engaging way that is appropriate for all age groups and abilities. This is a place for serious fun.
- Free Stock Photos for your Website – 11 Solid Sources – read this great post at the echo enduring blog to learn how you can access free photos for student projects and websites.
- Jane Hart’s Top 100 Tools for Learning PowerPoint – how many of these excellent resources have you used?
- School Tube Contests - check this link frequently if you have young film makers in your class. There are a number of contests starting and ending throughout the year. Students can also view the award-winning films to gain additional knowledge about video production and what components are present in an award-winning videol

Thanks for mentioning the training and development search engine. The name is, indeed, tongue in cheek, but it should be interesting to see how well we can make it useful. These engines are “experiments” to see if we can make finding things on the Internet a little less aggravating. One of the things I’m starting to like is the ability to search for research in training, development and learning, but it’s so unfortunate that so much of it requires fees to see.
