I am eclectic in my interests and admittedly spend too much time exploring the Internet. Between reading through the blogs I subscribe to and scanning the great recommendations from my wonderful Twitter network of friends, I bookmark a vast number of sites. I thought it would be fun to post my Favorite Top 10 sites of the week so you can share (and respond to) some of the resources that have intrigued me this week. If you are the person who shared any of these resources and I failed to give you credit I apologize. Most of the time I am speed scanning and bookmarking and don’t take time to credit my original source. Anyway, here goes, in no particular order and with no particular rhyme or reason…
- Gamequarium Math Games – tons of wonderful math games categorized and ready for your review. I believe this resource was put together by Diana Dell, a great Twitter Friend and online college friend.
- Videos for PD – posted at the marvelous Moving at the Speed of Creativity blog written by Wesley Fryer, this list brought a lot of reader response and numerous additional suggestions for great videos that could be used to support various professional development opportunities. I especially enjoyed exploring the various videos and was pleased to note that I had used several of them for PD…my favorite on the list?…a PD favorite that has been updated to include Web 2.0 (view it below)
- Ten Ways To Get Beyond Powerpoint With Classroom Projectors – some great ideas posted by Ron S. Doyle in an article posted on Tech & Learning
- The Best Eleven Websites For Students To Learn About Computers – a great blog post written by Larry Ferlazzo
- Entrepreneurs can change the world – I have embedded the video designed by Ben White below:
- World Panoramic Photography: 360 Cities – panoramic shots of cities around the world…very cool.
- The Visual Dictionary – “a collection of words in the real world. Photographs of signage, graffiti, advertising, tattoos, you name it, we’re trying to catalogue it.”
- STOP DISASTERS! – A disaster simulation game from the UN/ISDR
- Montage-a-google – “a fun tool that lets you create large, colourful montages using Google’s image search. Not only is it an interesting way of browsing the net, it can also be used to create desktop pictures or even posters.”
- Supercook – “Supercook is a new recipe search engine that finds recipes you can make with only the ingredients you have at home. To begin, simply start adding ingredients you have in the green box on the top left. The more ingredients you add, the better the results will be.”
I just learned that today is Poetry Friday…you might like to revisit my 30 Links for National Poetry Month posting for some quick, easy links and ideas. You will also find a number of “recipe cards” and worksheet templates to help students write acrostic, cinquain, and diamante poems at my Recipes to Good Writing site.
