In no particular order, I have listed my favorite top 10 sites, blog posts, and videos of the week below. Feel free to share your favorite finds of the week using the comment link found at the bottom of this post.

  1. Playful Learning is a homegrown website that was created to share useful and interesting information with families regarding the growth and development of their children. The site developed by Mariah Bruehl features a fascinating blog, learning experiences, and links to additional resources.
  2. Lifehacker posted the following how-video that seemed particularly important to me this week as I have been losing my mind getting ready for my daughters wedding…the video shared some advice that seemed relevant and do-able (after the wedding).
  3. Alarm Tube – set your computer to wake you up with a YouTube Video. This was a cute concept that could be used at home, but probably not at home since many schools block YouTube.
  4. First Sounds is an informal collaborative of audio historians, recording engineers, sound archivists, scientists, other individuals, and organizations who aim to make mankind’s earliest sound recordings available to all people for all time.”
  5. planetakiPlanetaki is an application you can use to create a place where you can read all the websites you like in a single page. You decide whether your planet is public or private. This seems like it would hold great possibilities for building a portal of sites that students could access for a lesson or unit of study.
  6. Western Spaghetti by PES – The video effects in the follow video are outstanding! It was written and directed by PES *2009 Sundance Film Festival Winner *2009 Audience Award, Annecy Animation Festival. TIME Magazine voted it the #2 Internet Video of the Year.
  7. 14 Trends of The New Educational Reality – “In his book Meatball Sundae, Seth Godin describes 14 Trends of New Marketing. In this blog post on Education Innovation, the author “put these trends under the lens of education and call them the New Reality.”
  8. How the brain hard-wires us to love Google, Twitter, and texting. And why that’s dangerous – an interesting article posted on Slate, written by Emily Yoffe.
  9. Animated folk stories from Europe – fascinating and engaging
  10. Slideoo – a quick and easy way to create a horizontal slide show from Flickr images. See my sample below…
