9-11 Top Ten Friday Favorites

First, please take a moment today to remember those individuals who were lost and impacted by the events of September 11, 2001 and refer to yesterday’s post for materials that can be used to teach and share the memories of that sad day. After contemplating the sobering tragedy that occurred eight years ago today, take time for a little levity and link-gathering as you peruse the top ten resources/videos I bookmarked this week.

  1. 50 things that are being killed by the internet – “The internet has wrought huge changes on our lives – both positive and negative – in the fifteen years since its use became widespread.”
  2. 12 Tips for Better Business Writing – ” Spending some time to improve your writing can result in a marked improvement in your hireability and promotional prospects. There’s no substitute for practice, but here’s a few pointers to put you on the right track.” These tips would be great to share with students and adults.
  3. Six Motivational Questions to Ask Yourself Every Day – can think of six questions you should ask yourself every day? Did any of these questions match your list?
  4. How to Decide on Adopting, Waiting or Ignoring New Technology – this article posted on the Accelerating Change blog found on the Administrator Magazine site really speaks to my personal philosophy about technology in schools…a good read.
  5. Change the World in 5 Minutes: Everyday at School – This film was made for Film Australia’s Change the World in 5 Minutes project…maybe it will give you and your students some ideas for how they can change the world in their part of the world.
  6. Scholastic Character Scrapbook – “Use this reader’s response activity to analyze the characters in any book. Print and collect your scrapbook pages.”
  7. Vermilion Parish Grade Level Curriculum Links – My Twitter friend Stacy Bodin was kind enough to share this marvelous portal of resources when I put out a call to my PLN for literacy materials this past week. You will be blown away by this collection of resources.
