Create a Virtual Gallery with Kickfly

kickflyI have been playing with a Web 2.0 application called Kickfly (can you tell?). Kickfly is a Web service that makes it easy to create 3D virtual scenes that are personalized with your photos, friends, and music. This could be a neat application to use if you wanted to create a virtual gallery of student art work.

Currently, you need to post images (open to the public) through Flickr, Photobucket, or on a webpage in order to incorporate your own photographs. This product would be much easier to use if there was an option to upload photographs from your computer (maybe, later….pretty please…are you listening Kickfly creaters?). Users can also select from several different 3-D setting and have a few music options that can be selected as well. You can embed your 3-D scenes in Facebook or on a webpage (select options if you want to embed on a blog or webpage). I played with the code a bit to get the image to appear on my blog in a somewhat reduced size (I changed the height and width percentages and set the values to scale). It would be nice if users could select image size before embedding the images on their screen…some people are not comfortable playing with the coding (hint, hint).

All told, I found the application pretty intuitive and thought it was a fun way to create a small memorial gallery of my Dad since this is Father’s Day weekend.
